Several Forest Sector Operators attended the EU-funded Forest Sector Operator Compliance Outreach, implemented through IICA Guyana, in Mabaruma. The FLEGT Secretariat of the Guyana Forestry Commission hosted the session with support from the EPA – Guyana, the National Insurance Scheme – Guyana, and the Ministry of Labour Guyana. Mona Bynoe, Private Sector Representative on the FLEGT VPA National Implementation Working Group (NIWG), opened the session. The GFC and agencies shared compliance requirements that Forest Sector Operators must follow to operate on the local and EU markets as Guyana moves towards licencing under the FLEGT VPA in 2026.
