Mr. Nadal Sastre, Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union in Guyana, officially handed over essential equipment on behalf of the EU to the Guyana Forestry Commission and the FLEGT Secretariat. The handover was received by the Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat, M.P., and included vehicles, IT equipment, and office supplies such as laptops, GPS devices, video conferencing systems, and portable projectors.
The EU’s contribution further strengthens Guyana’s efforts in implementing the FLEGT VPA by equipping and enhancing the capacity of the FLEGT Secretariat within the GFC with the tools and human resources to oversee and advance the agreement to obtain FLEGT licencing. These resources will also support the strengthening of stakeholder compliance and engagement.
The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) procured the items on behalf of the EU via OCA Global Consulting and Technical Advisory Services S.L.U.
