Guyana Timber Legality Assurance System
A FLEGT licence is a document issued by the Licensing Authority when the Authority confirms that a shipment of timber products intended for export to the EU has been legally produced and verified.
The FLEGT Licensing Authority in Guyana will be the Timber Legality and Trade Unit (TLTU). The TLTU will issue FLEGT Licences to consignments of timber products that the verification mechanism has confirmed are legally compliant.
FLEGT Licensing cannot begin until a joint evaluation of the GTLAS is conducted by Guyana and the EU, confirming that the system works as described in the Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA).
