The FLEGT Secretariat hosted the Third National Implementation Working Group (NIWG) Retreat: the first of the VPA Management Bodies meetings for 2026.
This retreat is a key milestone in Guyana’s preparations for the issuance of FLEGT Licences by December 2026, providing space for focused reflection, technical review, and strategic planning. Discussions aim to consolidate gains, address remaining risks, and ensure the Joint Implementation Framework (JIF) remains fit-for-purpose for licensing readiness.
The retreat brought together NIWG members and the FLEGT Secretariat to strengthen coordination, review implementation progress under the JIF, and align priority actions required for licensing readiness.
Sessions were facilitated by Lawrence Lachmansingh, Forest Governance Facilitator, and were designed to ensure members are well-informed, actively contribute to finalising the JIF work plan, and feel empowered to support its implementation.
