IICA Guyana, in collaboration with the FLEGT Secretariat of the GFC, hosted a presentation on the pre-audit assessment of the Guyana Timber Legality Assurance System (GTLAS), which will be used to address gaps where they may be found ahead of the Independent Audit process, and non-compliance procedures to guide the identification, reporting, investigation, and resolution of instances of non-compliance with legal and VPA requirements in the forest sector.
Following opening remarks by the Head of the FLEGT Secretariat, Kenny David, and Country Representative at IICA, Wilmot Garnett, the consultant, Dr Gary Clarke, delivered the presentation at the GFC Multiplex Boardroom, Kingston, Georgetown.
The session presented key findings, recommendations, and next steps. It also served as a platform for valuable feedback and insights from GFC and government agency stakeholders, before the finalisation of the Pre-Audit Assessment and Non-Compliance Procedures documents.
