Batavia Village Toshao Murphy Gomez, members of the village council and several village stakeholders welcomed the FLEGT team from the Guyana Forestry Commission and representatives from the EPA – Guyana, the Guyana_Revenue_Authority, the National Insurance Scheme – Guyana, and the Ministry of Labour & Manpower Planning Guyana yesterday, October 07, to conduct a Compliance Outreach session. The interactive, EU-funded session, implemented by IICA Guyana and hosted by the FLEGT Secretariat, along with representatives from the relevant agencies, centred on the compliance requirements that FSOs must follow to operate on the local and EU markets as Guyana moves towards licencing under the FLEGT VPA in 2026. Individual support was also offered to stakeholders during the session by NIS, and relevant agencies addressed FSO queries.
