Guyana and the EU reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable forest management and legal timber trade by signing a new Aide Mémoire at the 4th JMRC of the VPA and 3rd Political Meeting of the Forest Partnership. The event was co-chaired by the Hon. Vickram Bharrat, M.P., Minister of Natural Resources, and Ambassador René van Nes, Head of the EU Delegation to Guyana. The Minister and EU Ambassador emphasized the significance of this partnership and their support, signifying the strong ongoing political engagement between Guyana and the EU to ensure Guyana’s forests are managed sustainably, benefiting the environment and local communities—a milestone in advancing forest governance, climate action, and economic opportunity. Guyana and EU representatives of the Technical Committee of the JMRC, and other stakeholders are attended the event.
